The Africa Community in Surrey & Sussex was thrilled to host a vibrant afternoon of health and community spirit at our recent Free Community Fitness Event. Designed to promote wellbeing in an engaging and inclusive atmosphere, the event succeeded in bringing together individuals and families for an unforgettable experience of movement and connection.

Led by Shanka Popoola, a prominent member of ACISS, the afternoon was a wonderful celebration of active living, offering a diverse range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities. Guests were invited to participate in a delightful mix of studio activities, fun games, and taster sessions, providing a perfect opportunity to explore different ways to get moving.

A particular highlight was the high-energy Zumba class, which saw its full allocation of twenty spots eagerly filled by enthusiastic participants aged 16 and over. The infectious rhythms and collective energy in the room were a joy to behold, perfectly capturing the event’s fun and uplifting ethos.

It was truly heartening to see the community come together, friends, families, and individuals, all united by a shared goal of enjoying a healthy and active lifestyle. The sound of laughter and conversation that filled the venue was a testament to the event’s success in fostering a strong sense of togetherness.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the vibrant atmosphere. Your participation is what makes these events so special. We are also immensely grateful to our dedicated organisers and instructors whose passion and hard work made the afternoon possible.

The positive feedback and high levels of engagement have reinforced our commitment to supporting the health and wellness of our community. We look forward to building on this success and announcing more events in the future.

Many thanks to Horley Leisure Center for allowing us use their facilities for this wonderful event.
